The Group of European Municipalities with Nuclear Facilities (GMF Europe) and the French association of municipalities hosting nuclear facilities (ARCICEN) are co-organising a seminar on “the role of local communities in the energy transition: new nuclear developments” on 23-24 May 2024 in Saint Vulbas, Ain (France). The seminar aims to contribute to the strategic reflection on the opportunities, challenges, concerns and expectations from local communities regarding the new nuclear developments.

The agenda includes a round table discussion which is held in the framework of ECOSENS European project which delves into the preparation of territories as hosts of new nuclear facilities. The panelists will include testimonials from different European countries, including Finland, France, Netherlands and United Kingdom. Lessons learned from constructing and operating nuclear power plants and repositories will be drawn up to strengthen the recommendations of ECOSENS regarding the engagement of stakeholders in the process of nuclear policy development and implementation.
